Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rodolfo Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruno Sotomayor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sotomayor is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Enter Sandman - Metallica. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodolfo Silva! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bruno Sotomayor! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Emerson Jorge and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Sotomayor! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Silva tries to control but Sotomayor wriggling away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Silva avoids the attempt from Sotomayor to control. Silva lands a heavy elbow. Sotomayor is looking to get to half guard. Silva looking to control but Sotomayor is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. The referee warns Sotomayor that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Sotomayor looks out of his depth in this position - he's holding on tight. Silva can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sotomayor is looking to escape. Silva is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Sotomayor can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
It looks like Bruno Sotomayor has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sotomayor is squirming around, avoiding Silva's attempts to control the action. Silva is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Sotomayor can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Sotomayor is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Sotomayor regains half guard. Sotomayor moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Sotomayor looking to control.
Sotomayor striking off his back but it's not causing Silva any problems. Sotomayor keeping full guard, as Silva tries to pass. Sotomayor is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Sotomayor thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Sotomayor is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Silva pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sotomayor is keeping the position for now.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Nice takedown defense from Sotomayor. No joy for Silva on that attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Silva wants to clinch up but Sotomayor keeps it at a distance. Silva closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sotomayor circles away. Rodolfo Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sotomayor doesn't succeed with the takedown and Silva counters by clinching up. Sotomayor misses with a punch on the inside.
Sotomayor ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Sotomayor no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Silva trying to control the position from guard on top but Sotomayor is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Sotomayor has his foot on Silva's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Silva works his way back into a safe position though. Sotomayor looks gassed! Silva trying to control but Sotomayor is working from the bottom. Sotomayor is trying to keep Silva in close.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Silva tries to stand but Sotomayor is controlling from the bottom. Silva lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Sotomayor looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. A shot to de liver by Silva. Beautiful body shot. Left hook, right uppercut from Silva. Silva drives through and clinches with Sotomayor against the cage.
Silva lands a left hand that snaps the head of Sotomayor backwards. Silva lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Sotomayor backwards. Sotomayor fails to pull guard.
Silva digs a right hand underneath Sotomayor's ribcage. Sotomayor let out a lung full of air as it connected. Silva fails to pull guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rodolfo Silva dominated that round. The cut man is working on Bruno Sotomayor's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Silva is looking to clinch but Sotomayor is avoiding it.
Silva wants to clinch. Sotomayor tries for a takedown but Silva circles away easily so Silva counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Silva thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Silva throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Silva loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Sotomayor is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Sotomayor looking to control.
Sotomayor wants to sweep here but Silva controlling him for the moment. Sotomayor keeping moving, preventing Silva from controlling successfully. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Sotomayor circles away from the clinch attempt.
Silva wants to clinch. Silva misses with a head kick.
Rodolfo Silva is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Silva throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Sotomayor blocks the body kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Silva doesn't manage to clinch there - Sotomayor circles away.
Silva with a lazy takedown attempt and Sotomayor counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Silva is pushing Sotomayor up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Sotomayor gets through Silva's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Sotomayor tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Silva smiles and moves away.
Silva keeps the fight on the outside. Silva tries for a takedown but Sotomayor circles away easily and Sotomayor counters with a nice double leg into side control. Silva won't be happy with that. Sotomayor cracks Silva with an elbow. That is naaassty.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Silva is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Silva tries to improve position but can't. Sotomayor working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Sotomayor in side control lands a decent elbow. Sotomayor landing strikes. Sotomayor wants to lay and pray for a moment but Silva keeps working. Rodolfo Silva overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Silva is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Sotomayor asserts his dominance and retains side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sotomayor scoring with punches and elbows. Sotomayor in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Silva gets back to half guard. Sotomayor prevents Silva from improving his position. Sotomayor drops an elbow to the side of Silva's head. Sotomayor working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Silva is looking to control Sotomayor's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Silva avoid being mounted? And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bruno Sotomayor showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Bruno Sotomayor's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Silva walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Silva tries to clinch up and Sotomayor counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Sotomayor. Sotomayor landing with the ground and pound. Sotomayor wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving. Sotomayor has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Silva trying to control the position.
Sotomayor with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Sotomayor takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Sotomayor pushing down on Silva's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Sotomayor trying to control the action but Silva is working from the bottom. Sotomayor seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Sotomayor is trying to control the action in half guard but Silva is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Sotomayor is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Silva defends it well. Silva is refusing to be controlled, as Sotomayor sits in half guard. Silva looking for submissions off his back.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Silva lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Sotomayor pushes Silva up against the cage in a clinch. Sotomayor tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Silva just stands there and leans against the cage. Silva jumps guard and drags Sotomayor to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Sotomayor looking to sit in guard and control but Silva gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Sotomayor has his foot on Silva's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Silva works his way back into a safe position though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sotomayor can't keep his opponent in guard - Silva advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Sotomayor is trying to maintain the position but Silva is very close to passing his half guard. Sotomayor is looking to get back to full guard here but Silva has managed to pass to side control instead. Silva putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Silva wants to control the pace but Sotomayor is squirming around nicely. Sotomayor tries to lock up and control but Silva gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Sotomayor keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Bruno Sotomayor comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Sotomayor has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
