Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thom Jacobson (ranked 4543 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Smith (ranked 24805 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith has chosen Panini as his entrance music. Smith has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jacobson closes the distance and clinches.

Smith stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jacobson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jacobson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Smith defends it easily.

Smith misses with a takedown attempt - Jacobson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
As Smith tries to get set, Jacobson tries to push him back and clinch up but Smith manages to avoid the attempt.

Jacobson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jacobson lands in his opponent's guard.

Smith is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Jacobson presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Jacobson for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

Smith is fighting off a takedown attempt but Jacobson is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Smith to the mat. Smith regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Smith has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Jacobson has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Jacobson is pressed up against the cage. Smith has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jacobson down to the mat. Jacobson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Jacobson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Jacobson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Jacobson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Smith on his heels. He'll look to pass Smith's guard now, I'm sure.

Smith is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Smith extends the arm and Jacobson is forced to tap!

John Smith decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
