The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barbaro throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Barbaro gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Mcilrath prevents a body shot from Barbaro.
Barbaro throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Barbaro struggles to land a body shot inside as Mcilrath controls his hands.
Mcilrath jumps guard but Barbaro stands there with Mcilrath around his waist. Mcilrath gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Mcilrath is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
A nice right hand lands inside from Mcilrath.
Mcilrath fails to pull guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barbaro misses with a punch on the inside.
Barbaro pushes Mcilrath back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Mcilrath changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Barbaro fights it off and pushes away nicely.

and Mcilrath counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Barbaro leaves Mcilrath with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Barbaro drops Mcilrath with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Mcilrath looks back up at him and smiles so Barbaro waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Mcilrath is rocked!
