Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Rubio! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mike Bard! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Chris Dean and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rubio clinches with his opponent.
Rubio blocks an uppercut.
Rubio tightens his grip and picks Bard up, before dumping him to the ground. Bard manages to land in guard. Rubio throws a big right hand that misses. Rubio postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Bard wants to sweep but no luck. Bard looking to control.
Rubio scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Bard is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bard is on top in guard.
Rubio is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Bard trying to control but Rubio is working from the bottom. Rubio can't keep his opponent in guard - Bard advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Bard landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Bard missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bard passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Rubio! Bard working Rubio over with strikes here. Bard lands a nice shot to the head. Rubio's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Bard with good strikes from the mount here! Rubio on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rubio tries to get out of the position. Rubio's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Bard has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Rubio's face.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Rubio is bucking up trying to escape but Bard cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Bard with a couple of short strikes. Rubio is in a horrible position here. Bard smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Bard landing strikes, looking to finish! Bard looking to control but Rubio is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Bard unloading with bombs! Bard with the ground and pound from mount. A nice elbow there by Bard. Rubio is bucking up trying to escape but Bard cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Rubio is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Bard landing shots from mount. Bard lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Bard has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. BOOM! Bard connects with a massive shot to the dome!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bard is landing with some decent strikes but Rubio is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. A nice elbow there by Bard. Bard working Rubio over with strikes here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bard pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Bard fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Bard is landing with some decent strikes but Rubio is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Bard has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Rubio is forced to tap!
