Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Justin Purcell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Colton Ortiz!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Johanna Lukiainen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from Purcell misses

and Ortiz counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Purcell not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Ortiz looking to pass the guard.
Ortiz works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Purcell is refusing to be controlled, as Ortiz sits in half guard.

Ortiz is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Purcell doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ortiz.
Ortiz wants to free his trapped foot but Purcell is holding on for dear life with his legs.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ortiz trying to control from half guard but Purcell is working away.

Ortiz is looking for a kimura but Purcell is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ortiz to get the leverage.
Purcell is not content to let Ortiz control the position.
Purcell definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Purcell gets full guard.
Ortiz tries to free his leg and advance position but Purcell is retaining full guard.
Purcell wants to improve his position but instead Ortiz has moved into half guard.
Purcell wants to get back to full guard.
Ortiz is controlling the pace.

Purcell trying to control but Ortiz postures up.
Ortiz is pressing down on Purcell's thigh, looking to free his foot. Purcell is holding on for now.
Ortiz slows the pace down in half guard.
Ortiz is trying to control the action in half guard but Purcell is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Purcell wants to get back to full guard but Ortiz has mounted him!

Ortiz jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Purcell manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Purcell is looking to reverse the position.

Ortiz tries for a kimura but Purcell is defending well.
Ortiz advances to mount.
Purcell tries to hold on but Ortiz pushes him away.
Ortiz can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Purcell is looking to escape.

Purcell tries to improve his position but Ortiz has taken his back! Ortiz has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Purcell tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Ortiz pushes Purcell away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
