Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, William Antonio! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Adam Street! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Jonathan Paton and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Street shoots in and bounces Antonio off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Street sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Antonio's guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Street in particular looking to stall. Street is thwarting Antonio's attempts to control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Street in particular looking to stall. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Antonio won't allow Street to pass to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Street is thwarting Antonio's attempts to control the position. Street is taking a breather. Antonio says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Antonio trying to control from the bottom.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Street dives in and grabs Antonio's left leg, looking for a takedown. Antonio pushes down on Street's head and hops out. Antonio chopping away at his opponent's legs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Antonio scores with a leg kick.
Antonio throws a sloppy head kick and Street counters with a good, hard body kick but Antonio shrugs it off. Street throws a nice head kick!
It looks like William Antonio has been cut. Street changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Antonio tries to avoid it but Street manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Antonio to the ground. Antonio escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Street! Antonio is out on his feet! Street rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Antonio is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Antonio is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Adam Street! In defeat, William Antonio stepped up to the mic, saying 'I apologize to nobody.'.
