CACC 86 CORONA CARD PBP Commentary


Coming up we have a heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Maxim Bok (ranked 1528 p4p, 180 weight class) and Ricco Torres (ranked 2209 p4p, 240 weight class). Bok kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Give It Revolution. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 22 wins and 11 losses; Maxim Bok! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 6 wins and 4 losses; Ricco Torres!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Torres moves into the clinch successfully.
Bok has Torres pressed up against the ropes and is working for takedown. Torres manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Torres is working for a takedown up against the ropes. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Bok drops down looking for an ankle pick but Torres pulls his leg out and moves away.
Torres stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Torres wants it to stay on the feet.

Bok is trying to trip Torres. He has hold of a leg but Torres is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Bok persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Torres really must keep his cool here. He's controlling one of Bok's hands and whilst he does that, he's got a chance of escaping the position.

Bok is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Torres has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Bok seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Torres does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Torres felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Bok is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Torres defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Bok is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Torres is the more experienced fighter here and he's going to need to draw on some of that experience if he's going to pull this one out the bag.

Bok might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Torres wants to work for an arm triangle but Bok is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Torres is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
