This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 8 losses; Dom Danky! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 7 wins and 4 losses; Tsuyoi Kakuto!
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Kakuto closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kakuto lands in his opponent's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Danky (0) vs (2) Kakuto
Kakuto wants to pass the guard but Danky is keeping the position.
Danky is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Danky is looking for a triangle but Kakuto pushes his legs off easily.
Kakuto looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Danky is trying to keep Kakuto in close.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Danky looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kakuto is one step ahead there.

Danky has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kakuto can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Kakuto's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
We've been hearing good reports from Danky's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Danky is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Kakuto has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Danky to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Kakuto is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Danky pulls down on the head and he's put Kakuto to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Dom Danky!
After winning the bout, Dom Danky thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
