Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stewart Doyle (ranked 4713 p4p, 493 weight class) and Nathan Rodgers (ranked 4825 p4p, 498 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Stewart Doyle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Nathan Rodgers!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Peter Branson and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doyle shoots in looking for a takedown. Rodgers tries to sprawl out of it but Doyle keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rodgers manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A jab from Rodgers does it's job there.
Rodgers lands a jab-cross combination.
Doyle tries for a takedown but Rodgers circles away easily
and Rodgers counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Doyle is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Doyle gets caught napping as Rodgers dives in and scores a takedown. Doyle manages to retain guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Rodgers has eaten all the pies!

Doyle gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Doyle is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Rodgers dives into side control.

Rodgers has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Doyle takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Nathan Rodgers showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Doyle shoots and misses
and Rodgers counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Rodgers fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Doyle sprawls well initially but Rodgers persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Rodgers passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Doyle!
Rodgers takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Rodgers stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Doyle fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rodgers avoids it really well and circles away.
Rodgers tries to counter with a clinch but Doyle shakes him off and moves away.

Rodgers is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Rodgers must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Rodgers slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Let's hope that Rodgers has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Rodgers.

Well Rodgers has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
