The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The crowd cheers as Hepple lands an impressive looking overhand right. Wood doesn't seem phased though.
Wood throws out a loose jab but Hepple uses good head movement to avoid it.
Hepple fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Wood, pushing him back against the cage.
Wood scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Hepple blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Hepple makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
I was talking to Hepple's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Hepple works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Hepple misses with a body punch.
Hepple takes a knee right on the jaw!
Nice body punch from Hepple - that landed with a thud.
Wood is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Hepple throws a knee to the head but misses.
Hepple lands a shot to the body.
Wood blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Wood escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hepple lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Hepple tries a head kick but it misses.
It seemed like Wood was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Wood looks to land a combination but Hepple avoids it well.
Hepple throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Wood gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Hepple gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ronnie Hepple!
Ronnie Hepple bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
