PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Allen (ranked 4677 p4p, 516 weight class) and Daniel Steel (ranked 3735 p4p, 458 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Peter Allen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Daniel Steel!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, David Hoff and Daniel Franklin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Steel feints and as Allen raises his hands in defense, Steel changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Allen is looking for a triangle but Steel pushes his legs off easily.
Steel lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Steel drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Steel jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Steel scoring with some ground and pound.

It looks like Peter Allen has been cut.
Allen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Steel manages to get himself to full guard.

Allen trying to control the position from guard on top but Steel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Steel working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Allen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Allen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Allen decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Steel takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Allen lands a nice looking kick to the body. Steel takes a step back to recover.
A head kick misses from Allen.
A countering left hand to the body from Steel misses.
Steel avoids the head kick by Allen.
Steel looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Allen tries to sprawl but Steel drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Steel working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Steel passes the guard and advances to mount!
Allen takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Peter Allen's cut is getting worse.

Oooh a big shot lands for Steel! Allen is out! The ref dives in to save him from more punishment!
