Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Sullivan (ranked 4842 p4p, 514 weight class) and Joaquin Guzman (ranked 2842 p4p, 367 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, David Hoff and Sandra Marshall.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guzman rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sullivan moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Sullivan tries a head kick but it misses.
Sullivan on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Sullivan ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Sullivan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Guzman but Guzman pushes him off and we're back to square one.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Guzman! But no joy.
Sullivan uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Guzman.
Sullivan goes for a double leg but Guzman avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Guzman continues to drive forward.
The fighters circle momentarily. Guzman darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Guzman throws a shot from downtown. Sullivan moves away and avoids it.

Sullivan closes the distance and clinches.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sullivan has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Guzman uses from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Guzman has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sullivan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Guzman holds on and takes a little breather.

Guzman bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Sullivan's head.
Sullivan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Guzman clobbers Sullivan with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Sullivan takes one on the button.
Sullivan closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Sullivan shoots in for a takedown but Guzman shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Sullivan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Guzman lands with an uppercut that bounces Sullivan off the cage and back into range.
Guzman is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sullivan.
Sullivan tries to move into range but Guzman moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Guzman uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Sullivan has time to react.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sullivan is defended easily by Guzman.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sullivan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Guzman circles away.

Guzman jabs Sullivan right on the nose. Sullivan blinks but takes it well.
Sullivan moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Sullivan shoots in looking for a takedown. Guzman tries to sprawl out of it but Sullivan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Guzman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Sullivan is breathing heavily.

Oh Sullivan is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Guzman rushes Sullivan and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
