Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Benson Saundresa (ranked 6735 p4p, 0 weight class) and Corey De Swardt (ranked 6653 p4p, 559 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Benson Saundresa has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Benson Saundresa seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Benson Saundresa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Corey De Swardt! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Colin Fray and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Saundresa digs a good body shot into De Swardt's ribs. A head kick misses from De Swardt. De Swardt throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Saundresa tries to clinch up. Saundresa misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

It looks like Corey De Swardt has been cut. Corey De Swardt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. De Swardt closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Saundresa's guard. Saundresa manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. De Swardt looks winded! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! De Swardt breaks from the clinch.
De Swardt gets the takedown into side control. Saundresa sneaks out the side door and pushes De Swardt away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Saundresa misses with a body kick. De Swardt tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Saundresa tries to clinch up but De Swardt circles away and keeps his distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Saundresa avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
De Swardt takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Saundresa has De Swardt up against the cage in a clinch.
Saundresa wants to break the clinch but can't.
De Swardt letting Saundresa take a breather here. Saundresa is trying to pull guard but De Swardt has him pressed against the cage. Saundresa fails to pull the fight into his guard.

De Swardt keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Saundresa's efforts to push away. De Swardt escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Saundresa fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Benson Saundresa. That's going to take a lot out of him. De Swardt stuffs the takedown attempt from Saundresa. Saundresa gets slowly back to his feet. De Swardt is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Saundresa. Saundresa takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
It looks like Benson Saundresa has been cut. Saundresa wants to clinch. Saundresa darts in looking for a takedown but De Swardt gets double underhooks and turns Saundresa into the cage. De Swardt scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. De Swardt creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
That's three minutes gone in the round. De Swardt decides to stand back up. De Swardt steps back and let's Saundresa get back to his feet. De Swardt instigates a clinch. De Swardt gets control of Saundresa's arms and successfully pulls guard. De Swardt will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. De Swardt is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Saundresa is controlling him. De Swardt is trying to control the position but Saundresa postures up. Saundresa pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. De Swardt is keeping the position for now. De Swardt utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. De Swardt thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. De Swardt wants to stand but Saundresa is controlling the position. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. De Swardt throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Saundresa fails miserably with a takedown attempt. A head kick misses from De Swardt. De Swardt slaps away a takedown attempt from Saundresa, before circling back to the center of the mat. De Swardt scores with a head kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Benson Saundresa will probably get the nod. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Saundresa goes for a double leg but De Swardt avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as De Swardt continues to drive forward. De Swardt slaps away a takedown attempt from Saundresa, before circling back to the center of the mat. De Swardt throws a solid leg kick but Saundresa takes the impact on his shin and smiles at De Swardt. Saundresa shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has De Swardt pinned against the cage. De Swardt gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Benson Saundresa. That's going to take a lot out of him. A combination from De Swardt does no damage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Saundresa is looking to clinch. Saundresa closes this distance looking for a takedown but De Swardt circles away. De Swardt tries a head kick but it misses.
De Swardt throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Saundresa tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but De Swardt paws at him with a jab and circles away.
That's one minute gone in the round. De Swardt misses with a few strikes there.
De Swardt keeps the fight on the outside. De Swardt throws a sloppy head kick and Saundresa moves out of range easily. Saundresa shoots in but De Swardt avoids the takedown attempt easily. De Swardt plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! No luck with that takedown attempt from Saundresa. De Swardt misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round. De Swardt defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Saundresa. De Swardt tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. De Swardt takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Saundresa blocks a head kick by De Swardt.
Saundresa will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. De Swardt bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Saundresa tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. We've been informed that De Swardt has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! De Swardt landing strikes from the mount. Saundresa takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Saundresa is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. De Swardt locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Saundresa is forced to tap!
