PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eladio Chu (ranked 6598 p4p, 625 weight class) and Jaco Camden (ranked 7102 p4p, 651 weight class). Jaco Camden told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eladio Chu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jaco Camden!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Steve Montenegro and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chu throws a sloppy head kick and Camden moves out of range easily.
Camden circles away from the clinch attempt.
Eladio Chu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chu closes this distance looking for a takedown but Camden circles away.

Camden fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Chu, pushing him back against the cage.

Chu letting Camden take a breather here.
Chu tries to stall but Camden uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Chu blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Chu jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Camden walks away with a smile on his face. Chu gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Camden forces Chu back against the cage and clinches.
Camden lands a knee to the body.
Chu wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Camden has him pressed against the cage.
Camden lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Camden pulls guard successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Camden managing to control the position.
Camden keeping moving, preventing Chu from controlling successfully.

Camden manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Camden pulls Chu into guard.
Camden pulls Chu in close to prevent any damage.
Chu trying to control the position from guard on top but Camden is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Camden lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Camden gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Camden forces Chu back against the cage and clinches.
Camden tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
A frustrated look appears on Chu's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Camden creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Chu's defenses.


It looks like Eladio Chu has been cut.
Chu is trying to drag Camden to the mat but Camden just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eladio Chu. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Camden lands an elbow that stopped Chu in his tracks for a moment.
Camden has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Chu seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Camden can turn it around.

Chu's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Camden's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Camden moves into range and clinches up with Chu.

Chu tries to break free but Camden pushes him back against the cage.
Camden lands a nice knee to the body.
Chu is breathing heavily.

Camden pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Camden closes the distance and clinches.
Camden lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Camden manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Camden breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Camden takes the fight into the clinch.
Camden effectively controlling the action here.
Camden putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Chu in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.

Camden pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Camden gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Camden breaks the clinch.

Camden has managed to clinch.
Camden digs a right hand into Chu's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Chu's gas tank.
Camden lands a damaging elbow.
Camden lands with a short punch from the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jaco Camden dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Eladio Chu's cut.
That's time! Chu's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Camden closes the distance and clinches.
Camden tries to land a knee to the head but Chu blocks with his arms.

Camden breaks the clinch.
Camden pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Chu shoots in but no luck this time.
Camden changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Eladio Chu is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Chu is defended easily by Camden.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice takedown defense from Camden. No joy for Chu on that attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eladio Chu. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Camden gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Camden lands a nice uppercut.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Camden lands a takedown into guard.
Chu wants to get back to his feet but Camden passes into half guard.

Camden passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Chu!

Camden has control of Chu's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Chu regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Camden has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Camden stands up from mount. Strange move.

Camden takes the fight into the clinch.
Chu throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Camden blocks it with crossed arms.
Nice elbow from Camden.
Chu takes a knee right on the jaw!


Eladio Chu's cut is getting worse.
Camden connects with a nasty looking knee right to Chu's face.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Camden jumps into guard, dragging Chu to the mat.
Chu knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Camden on the ground.
Camden lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Camden controls from within his opponent's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Camden's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Camden advances to half guard.
Camden trying to control the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Camden is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Chu is just riding it out for now. Camden eventually gives up the hold.
Camden prevents Chu from standing back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Camden is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Chu!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jaco Camden showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Camden takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Camden manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Camden has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Chu uses from the top position.

Camden is pulling down on Chu's head to control his posture.

Camden had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Chu defends it easily.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Camden holds on and takes a little breather.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Camden is on top in guard.

Camden engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Camden stands up from Chu's guard - Camden perhaps looking for a knockout.
Camden misses with a double jab.
Chu tries to close the distance and clinch up but Camden swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Chu keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Chu is looking for a counter combo.
Camden fails with a takedown attempt.
Chu swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Camden closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Camden lands in his opponent's guard.
Chu is looking to stand back up but Camden counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Chu.

Camden seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Camden seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Chu is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Jaco Camden!
