Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Torin Gatheri (ranked 5845 p4p, 471 weight class) and Jerry Alfinski (ranked 6914 p4p, 519 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Gatheri might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The Rain - DMX. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jerry Alfinski!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Daniel Franklin and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alfinski ducks right into an uppercut from Gatheri.


It looks like Jerry Alfinski has been cut.
Alfinski misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Gatheri connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Alfinski keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Gatheri throws a shot from downtown. Alfinski moves away and avoids it.

We've been informed that Alfinski has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Gatheri rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Alfinski moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Alfinski cracks Gatheri with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Alfinski has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Gatheri to stand back up!

And Alfinski tries to counter it with a takedown but Gatheri pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Alfinski has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Gatheri finds it's way round the side to connect with Alfinski's head.

Alfinski throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Gatheri takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Alfinski lands a nice hook to Gatheri's body. Gatheri takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Gatheri is breathing heavily.

Gatheri looks to throw the jab but Alfinski is out of range.

Gatheri could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Gatheri is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Despite the aggression on Alfinski's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Alfinski feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Gatheri sprawling to the canvas! Gatheri rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Alfinski finish him?!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gatheri ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Gatheri displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Alfinski.
It looked like Gatheri was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Alfinski.
Alfinski lands with an uppercut that bounces Gatheri off the cage and back into range.
Alfinski lands a slapping body shot.
Gatheri swings and misses with a hook to the body.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Alfinski! But no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Alfinski creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Gatheri wants to break the clinch but can't.

letting Gatheri counter with a right hand.


That has opened up Jerry Alfinski's cut even more.

Alfinski changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Gatheri ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Alfinski moves away.
Alfinski scores with a jab. Gatheri acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Gatheri rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Alfinski counters with a series of strikes that practically lifts Gatheri off his feet! He tumbles backwards, his head bouncing off the mat - Alfinski follows up with more strikes before the ref can step in but Gatheri was out before he hit the floor.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Jerry Alfinski!
Our winner, Jerry Alfinski, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
Torin Gatheri was interviewed post fight and said 'We have an opportunity to keep going.'.
