Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mew Choo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arthur Menezes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class).







Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Choo misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Menezes.

Menezes closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Menezes lands in his opponent's guard.

Choo is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Menezes is aware though and is defending well.
Menezes is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Choo is looking for a triangle but Menezes pushes his legs off easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Menezes controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Menezes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Choo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Menezes sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Choo's guard.
Menezes is trying to control the action in half guard but Choo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Choo gets back to full guard.
Menezes is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Choo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Menezes gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Menezes bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Mew Choo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Choo just misses with a punch to the body.
Menezes looks to throw the jab but Choo is out of range.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Choo throws a jab when Menezes was well out of range.
Menezes scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Menezes misses the shot to the body.
Menezes rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Choo connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Choo ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Choo clinches up with Menezes and pushes him back against the cage.
Menezes tries to stall but Choo uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
A short left from Choo.
Menezes lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Choo working aggressively here.

Menezes decides to pull guard.
Choo looking to pass the guard.

Menezes throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Menezes can't keep his opponent in guard - Choo advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Menezes looking for subs from the bottom but Choo mounts him!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Menezes really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Choo goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Menezes turns into him and now he's in Choo's guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Menezes wants to control from the top but Choo keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Choo just misses with a punch to the body.
Menezes darts in trying to clinch
and Choo counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Choo throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Choo throws out a loose jab but Menezes uses good head movement to avoid it.
Menezes takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Menezes's corner calls for a 1-2. Menezes obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Menezes looks to throw the jab but Choo is out of range.
A little feinted left hand from Choo on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Menezes uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Choo.
Menezes feints the counter takedown.
Menezes shoots for a double leg takedown but Choo sprawls well. He's pushed Menezes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Menezes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Good exchange - Choo coming out on top.
Choo throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Arthur Menezes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Choo walks into a stiff left hand from Menezes.
Menezes pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
A counter left hand to the body from Choo misses its target.
Choo throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Choo throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Choo connects with a body shot that sends Menezes's belly button to the back.
Menezes blocks a jab.
Choo avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Mew Choo is winning the standup battle so far.
Choo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Menezes manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Choo staying out of range there.
Menezes is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Choo.

Menezes closes the distance and clinches.
Choo is trying to pull guard but Menezes turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Choo jumps guard but Menezes stands there with Choo around his waist. Choo gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Choo jumps guard and drags Menezes to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Choo has his feet on Menezes's thighs here. He's pushed Menezes off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Menezes screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
