Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James Tobin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cain Alexander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tobin keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Tobin throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Horrible takedown by Alexander or perhaps it was just good defense by Tobin which made him look bad. Tobin throws a right hand that Alexander ducks under and follows up with a left that Alexander also avoids with ease. Tobin throws a right and a left that both miss. Some wild striking there from Tobin.
Tobin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Tobin fails to land with a series of punches.

Tobin throws a right hand that Alexander ducks under and follows up with a left that Alexander also avoids with ease. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tobin misses with a two punch combination.
Alexander tries for a takedown but Tobin sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. James Tobin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. Tobin throws a quick inside leg kick. Alexander misses with an uppercut. Tobin saw that one coming. Tobin lands a left and a right that sends Alexander crashing to the canvas! Tobin dives into mount looking to finish!

It looks like Cain Alexander has been cut. Alexander looks gassed! Tobin misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Alexander is still in real trouble! Can Tobin finish him? Tobin controlling his opponent. Alexander seems to have recovered his senses. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tobin prevents Alexander from getting the reversal. Tobin throws some wild stikes that Alexander manages to avoid easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Alexander taking shots to the head. Tobin controlling the pace for now. Alexander tries to hold on but Tobin postures up. Tobin looking to control and managing it successfully. Tobin unloading with bombs! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Tobin trying to control but Alexander is having none of it. Tobin controlling his opponent.
The referee stands the fighters back up. James Tobin just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Tobin lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Alexander circles away quickly and effectively.

Tobin throws a chopping leg kick but Alexander manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Tobin paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Alexander shoots in but Tobin avoids the takedown attempt easily. Tobin chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Tobin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Tobin throws a big right hand that misses. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tobin is stalling in the full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Tobin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Tobin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Tobin throws a right and a left that Alexander avoids nicely. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James Tobin dominated that round. The cut man is working on Cain Alexander's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Alexander wants to clinch up but Tobin keeps it at a distance. Tobin misses with a two punch combination.
Tobin drops Alexander with a left right combo! Tobin follows him down to the ground into side control.
Alexander tries to get back to half guard but can't. The referee asks Tobin politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Tobin prefers to stall for the moment though. Tobin decides to stand back up. Some wild striking there from Tobin.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Tobin is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Tobin advances to mount. Tobin tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Tobin is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Alexander can do to turn this around? Alexander is breathing heavily.

Tobin content just to control the position here. Tobin is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Alexander can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Alexander is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Poor strikes thrown by Tobin there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Tobin has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Tobin lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Tobin. Tobin lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Alexander can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Tobin and Alexander drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Tobin.
