Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Longsun Zhao!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jim Beam!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Bruno Hogan and Francis DeMontford.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zhao pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Beam looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Beam takes the fight into the clinch.
Beam manages to break the clinch.
Jim Beam seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Beam pushes Zhao away with a front kick.
Beam fails in his attempt to clinch.
Zhao throws a head kick that misses.
Nice takedown defense from Zhao. No joy for Beam on that attempt.
Beam throws out a leg kick but Zhao moves out of range and Beam only half commits.
Zhao lands a big head kick that sends Beam tumbling to the mat! Zhao takes a step backwards and waves Beam back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Beam is rocked!
It looks like Jim Beam has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Beam tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Beam is still on wobbly legs! Can Zhao finish him?
Zhao rushes Beam and presses him up against the cage.
Beam misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Beam misses with an elbow over the top.
Beam is trying to pull guard but Zhao has him pressed against the cage.
Zhao breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Zhao moves out of range of the body kick.
Zhao lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Beam up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Zhao from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Beam's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Longsun Zhao!
