Coming up we have a super heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Felipe Feltre (ranked 1117 p4p, 25 weight class) and Matvey Pavlov (ranked 1640 p4p, 38 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Feltre might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Someday Never Comes. The crowd seem to be enjoying Pavlov's choice of entrance music: Prokofiev - Dance of the Knights. Felipe Feltre had a look across the ring there at his opponent. He definitely means business
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Sydney, with a TWGC record of 7 wins and 6 losses; Felipe Feltre! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 22 wins and 16 losses; Matvey Pavlov! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Pavlov shoots in and gets a takedown into Feltre's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Feltre (0) vs (2) Pavlov Pavlov controlling from the top position. My spies in Marty Robbin's Fight Ranch™ inform me that Pavlov has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Pavlov's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Pavlov stopping the sweep attempt from Feltre. Feltre being controlled here, momentarily. Feltre working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pavlov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pavlov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Feltre being controlled here, momentarily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pavlov wants to control from the top but Feltre keeps moving. Pavlov might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Feltre haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Pavlov showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Feltre seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Feltre escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pavlov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Pavlov tries to free his leg and advance position but Feltre is retaining full guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pavlov trying to control but Feltre is working from the bottom. Feltre looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Feltre keeping moving, preventing Pavlov from controlling successfully. Pavlov has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Feltre to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Pavlov is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Feltre pulls down on the head and he's put Pavlov to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Felipe Feltre! A very excited looking Felipe Feltre rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed. |
