Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Petr Yan (ranked 7967 p4p, 7961 weight class) and Frankie DeSoto (ranked 560 p4p, 559 weight class). DeSoto is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Don’t Drop That Thun Thun. Petr Yan has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Petr Yan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frankie DeSoto!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Eddie Farnsworth and Franklyn Lucas.





The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DeSoto fails to land with a series of punches.
Yan lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Yan moves out of range as DeSoto strikes.
Yan on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Yan fails with the takedown.
DeSoto lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Yan.
Yan has been working on his balance at Desert Fitness & Training -13 Elites/1 Exceptional, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by DeSoto.
DeSoto tries to clinch
and Yan counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

DeSoto rushes Yan and presses him up against the cage.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from DeSoto.
DeSoto lands a nice uppercut.
Yan blocking some punches.
DeSoto tries to throw a body punch but Yan avoids it by throwing DeSoto back against the cage.

DeSoto stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Yan blocks a body shot from DeSoto.
DeSoto tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Yan smiles and moves away.

DeSoto closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as DeSoto takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
DeSoto stalls.
DeSoto receives a warning from the referee for stalling.
DeSoto tries a body shot but Yan blocks it.

A nice glancing elbow lands by DeSoto.

DeSoto escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Yan avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Yan needs to keep his hands up - DeSoto had a free shot at his head there.
DeSoto avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Some wild striking there from Yan.
DeSoto fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Yan has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
DeSoto swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Yan is fighting off a takedown attempt but DeSoto is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Yan to the mat. Yan regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

DeSoto engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Let's hope that DeSoto has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

DeSoto is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Yan is trying to control the position but DeSoto postures up.
DeSoto throws a big right hand that misses.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
DeSoto lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Yan is breathing heavily.
DeSoto looks to land a right hand but Yan moved out of range.
DeSoto throws a nice outside leg kick.
DeSoto rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Yan moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
DeSoto chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Yan misses with a takedown
and DeSoto connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Petr Yan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Yan fails to land with a series of punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frankie DeSoto dominated that round.
That's time! Yan's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Yan wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but DeSoto has him pressed against the cage.
DeSoto pushes Yan back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
DeSoto has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
DeSoto gets through Yan's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

As DeSoto looks to move away, Yan throws a big counter combo but DeSoto just gets out of the way.

Yan seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
DeSoto tries to bum rush Yan with a series of wild strikes but Yan uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
DeSoto tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Yan was well out of range. Poor timing from DeSoto.
DeSoto throws a right hand that Yan ducks under and follows up with a left that Yan also avoids with ease.
As DeSoto looks to move away, Yan throws a big counter combo but DeSoto just gets out of the way.
Yan pulls out of a head kick attempt.
DeSoto is trying to counter with his kicks.
Yan takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

Yan on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by DeSoto. DeSoto obviously looking to wear him down.
DeSoto throws a body punch but Yan moves out of range.
DeSoto throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
DeSoto takes a swing at Yan's ribcage but misses.
DeSoto misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

DeSoto scores with the left hand. Yan knows he should have avoided that one.

DeSoto pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
DeSoto scores with a kick to the midsection.
DeSoto scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
DeSoto lands a jab.
DeSoto uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Nice defenses there by Yan.
DeSoto scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Yan is rocked!
Frankie DeSoto seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Yan with a poor takedown
and DeSoto counters with a head kick that wobbles Yan - left then right he sways and one more bomb from DeSoto sends him down. This one is all over!
