Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Rock (ranked 2088 p4p, 227 weight class) and Scott McRay (ranked 2561 p4p, 280 weight class). McRay is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Choices. Scott McRay will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Rock! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Scott McRay! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Santiago Holmes and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice sprawl there from McRay as Rock shoots in. Rock avoids the body shot from McRay.
Rock shoots in looking for a takedown. McRay tries to sprawl out of it but Rock keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McRay manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Rock slips under a jab from McRay. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A telegraphed right hand from McRay misses the target. McRay stuns Rock with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. McRay misses with a wild body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rock looks for a takedown but McRay sprawls well. McRay feints the counter takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Rock. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rock fails with a takedown attempt. Rock shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches McRay napping and manages to drive through into side control! McRay sneaks out the side door and pushes Rock away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. McRay's coach down at Prosper Training was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on McRay's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Scott McRay is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McRay ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Rock moves away. McRay slaps away a takedown attempt from Rock, before circling back to the center of the mat. McRay with the counter takedown but Rock avoids it easily. Rock shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in McRay's guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rock stops McRay from standing up. Rock seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. McRay wants to stand and escape but Rock is having none of it. McRay really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rock. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rock seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Rock passes McRay's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Rock perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Rock maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! McRay could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Rock has cracked it and McRay is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Rock!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). John Rock! John Rock took to the mic after the fight and begged the organizational hierarchy for a shot at the title.
