Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Lewis (ranked 6737 p4p, 4670 weight class) and Matt Xtra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Lewis ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Xtra! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Anthony Taglia and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Xtra changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Xtra closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lewis to the mat! Lewis manages to get full guard. Lewis is looking to stand up but Xtra isn't so interested in that idea. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Xtra drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Xtra jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Xtra slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Xtra slips nicely into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Xtra controlling the action here. Xtra is thwarting Lewis 's attempts to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Xtra seems to be looking for submissions.
Xtra decides to stand and escape the position. Lewis shoots for a takedown but Xtra saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Lewis shoots in for a double leg but Xtra sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Lewis is breathing heavily. Xtra closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Xtra wants to break the clinch but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Xtra prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Lewis . That's going to take a lot out of him. Xtra breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Lewis tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Xtra fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lewis , pushing him back against the cage. Xtra stalling the fight.

Lewis tries to break the clinch but Xtra is controlling the position. Xtra lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Lewis tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Xtra manages to move to mount!
Lewis is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Brute Squad Recruitment Center, so we'll see if he gets out of it. Xtra controlling from mount. Xtra is working for a guillotine from mount but Lewis frees his head quite easily.
My spies in Cozad MMA New York inform me that Xtra has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Xtra lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Lewis hang on?
That's four minutes gone in the round. Xtra takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Lewis taking shots to the head. Xtra tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Xtra looking for a guillotine from mount but Lewis is having none of it. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Xtra fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Xtra misses with a takedown attempt - Lewis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Lewis fails with a takedown attempt. That's one minute gone in the round. Lewis gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Xtra to score an easy takedown into full guard. Xtra content to stall in guard here. Matt Xtra has got the better of the ground game so far. Xtra throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lewis works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Lewis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Xtra on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Xtra trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Xtra not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Xtra stands up and waves to Lewis to follow him. Xtra shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lewis as he jumps to the side. Lewis moves into range and clinches up with Xtra. Xtra tries to break the clinch but Lewis is controlling the position. Lewis fails to pull guard.

Xtra closes the distance and clinches. Xtra is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Lewis to keep the fight standing. James Lewis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Xtra. Lewis misses with a hook to the ribs.
Xtra is trying to force a seperation but Lewis has the dominant position. Lewis is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Xtra wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Xtra is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Lewis to keep the fight standing. Xtra working hard to break the clinch. Xtra has a takedown stuffed. Lewis bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Xtra defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Lewis . Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Xtra shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Xtra was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Xtra working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Matt Xtra will probably get the nod - 10:9. The cut man is working on James Lewis 's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Lewis dives in and grabs Xtra's left leg, looking for a takedown. Xtra pushes down on Lewis 's head and hops out. Lewis looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Xtra is fending him off so far but Lewis persists. Nope, Xtra circles away and we're back to standing. Xtra bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Xtra controls the position. Xtra connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Lewis some visible discomfort.
Lewis dodges the ground and pound from Xtra. Xtra tries for a kimura but Lewis is defending well. Both fighters are breathing heavily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. You can see the frustration on Lewis 's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee asks Xtra politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Xtra prefers to stall for the moment though. Xtra thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Xtra stands up. Xtra steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Lewis . That one must have hurt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Xtra goes for a double leg but Lewis avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Lewis continues to drive forward. Xtra drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Lewis is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Xtra dives into side control.
Xtra slows the pace down. Lewis managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Xtra.
Lewis taking a bit of punishment here - Xtra scoring with strikes. Lewis tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Xtra easily slips into full mount! Lewis tries to lock up and control but Xtra gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Xtra has control of Lewis 's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Lewis regains control of the situation pretty easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Xtra takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Xtra won't let Lewis get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Xtra sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. BOOM! Xtra connects with a massive shot to the dome!
James Lewis 's cut is getting worse. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Xtra controlling from mount. James Lewis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Matt Xtra is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Xtra's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
And that's the end of the fight! Matt Xtra comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Xtra has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
