Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Zach Collins (ranked 3737 p4p, 4376 weight class) and Erik Hook (ranked 359 p4p, 393 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Zach Collins! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Erik Hook! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Collins fails with the takedown and Hook counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Hook slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Collins shoots in for a takedown but Hook shows good takedown defense. Collins shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hook as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zach Collins. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hook lands with a nice body punch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Collins misses with a takedown and Hook cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Collins bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hook can do anything to dispel that myth. Collins working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
That's one minute gone in the round. Collins postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Collins has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Collins throwing shots but missing, from side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Collins scores with a couple of short elbows. Collins fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Collins wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hook, who protects the arm well. Hook isn't going anywhere. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Collins lands some shots froms side control. Collins lands a few punches from side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Collins working the head and body with strikes. Collins in side control lands a decent elbow. The strikes coming from Collins are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Collins is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hook is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Hook takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Hook is working to avoid the ground and pound but Collins connects with a decent elbow. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Collins has an Americana. Hook didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Collins is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Collins hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
