Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cyrus Persia (ranked 24736 p4p, 5764 weight class) and Jean Luc Petard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cyrus Persia! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jean Luc Petard! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Dean Styles and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A punch combination from Petard misses. Persia moves into the clinch. Petard pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Persia gets cracked there but stands up to it.
It looks like Cyrus Persia has been cut. Persia shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Petard's guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Petard can do anything to dispel that myth. Petard keeping full guard, as Persia tries to pass. Persia is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Petard really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Persia. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Petard tries to land a sweep but no joy. Persia throws a big right hand that misses. Persia's corner is telling him to maintain position. Persia seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Petard for as long as he can get away with.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Petard throws a right hand that Persia ducks under and follows up with a left that Persia also avoids with ease. Persia drops down looking for a counter takedown but Petard sprawls and moves away. Persia getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Persia shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Persia was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Petard tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Persia continues to stall. Can Petard hold on?! Persia is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Petard avoids the strikes from Persia. Petard won't enjoy being in this position. Persia looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Petard is tapping - it's over boys! Persia picks up the submission victory!
