Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Wesley Carter (ranked 4004 p4p, 196 weight class) and Cecil Ballard (ranked 5254 p4p, 224 weight class). Ballard has chosen Balada as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Wesley Carter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cecil Ballard!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carter moves into the clinch.
Carter landing knees to the body.
Carter lands a right hand that snaps the head of Ballard backwards.

Carter pulls guard successfully.
Ballard in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Carter looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ballard is one step ahead there.

Carter has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Ballard is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Ballard is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Carter can't fight it off and eventually Ballard manages to take the fight to the floor. Carter looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Carter closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Ballard has Carter pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Carter manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Carter scores a nice knee to the body.

Carter is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Ballard is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Carter's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Carter's back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carter tries to roll but Ballard sticks to his back.

Ballard is not going to allow Carter to sit and survive in this position.

Carter rolls, trying to escape but Ballard keeps control of the position.
Carter looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Carter is having to fend off submission attempts from Ballard, who is looking to sink in the choke. Ballard doesn't have the hooks in though and Carter manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.

Carter wants to control from the top but Ballard keeps moving.
Ballard can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Carter controls the pace.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Carter got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ballard has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Carter has managed to get both his arms back between Ballard's legs - danger averted.
Ballard utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Carter works a leg free and moves into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carter wants to free his trapped foot but Ballard is holding on for dear life with his legs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Carter shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Ballard slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Ballard working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Carter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Carter manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Carter is pushing down on Ballard's leg trying to pass to half guard. Ballard is fighting to maintain full guard but Carter has managed to sneak the leg through.
Carter really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Carter is just content to waste time from the top position. Ballard takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Carter takes the fight into the clinch.
Carter lands a knee to the head.
Ballard is trying to drag Carter to the mat but Carter just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Carter works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Ballard is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Carter is aware though and is defending well.
Carter knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ballard on the ground.

Carter tries to stand but Ballard is controlling from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Ballard is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Carter defends well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carter throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ballard was covering up waiting for the punch and Carter finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Carter postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Ballard has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Carter can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Carter wants to improve his position here. There's a bit of a scramble and Ballard has taken Carter's back! He's locked on a rear naked choke here and Carter has been forced to tap!
