0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Micky Mcminny! The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Fedor Mirinova and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A left and a right from Nelson both land. Nice combination.
It looks like Micky Mcminny has been cut. Nelson lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Nelson looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Nelson throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Nelson feints and then cracks Mcminny's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Mcminny down. Mcminny shoots and misses and Nelson counters with a three punch combo that has Mcminny backing up. Mcminny nods at Nelson to acknowledge the strikes. Mcminny wants to clinch. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Nelson slips under a jab. The crowd cheers as Nelson lands an impressive looking overhand right. Mcminny doesn't seem phased though. Mcminny throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Nelson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Mcminny is in Nelson's guard. Nelson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nelson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mcminny defends it easily. Nelson keeping moving, preventing Mcminny from controlling successfully. Nelson working for a triangle but Mcminny defends it easily.
Mcminny chips away with some ground and pound. Mcminny is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Mcminny postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Mcminny with a flurry of punches that miss. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Nelson wants to stand but Mcminny is controlling the position. Mcminny lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Nelson will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mcminny controls from within his opponent's guard. Nelson is looking for a triangle but Mcminny pushes his legs off easily.
