PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Lee (ranked 5680 p4p, 2871 weight class) and Jeffy Jeffy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jeffy has chosen Jeffy-why as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kyle Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jeffy Jeffy!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Anni Minnemäki and Ben Zyskovitsi.





The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee tries to clinch up.
Jeffy circles away from the clinch attempt.

Lee gets caught napping as Jeffy dives in and scores a takedown. Lee manages to retain guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Lee is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jeffy defends well.
Jeffy controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Jeffy's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Lee tries to land a sweep but no joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looks like Jeffy might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Lee is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Jeffy must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Lee really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Jeffy clinches up with Lee and pushes him back against the cage.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Lee jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jeffy walks away with a smile on his face. Lee gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Jeffy gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Jeffy seems keen to control Lee's posture.
Lee wants to control from the top but Jeffy keeps moving.
Jeffy lands a good elbow from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Lee loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jeffy Jeffy will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Jeffy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Lee is trying to control the position but Jeffy postures up.

Lee wants to stand and escape but Jeffy is having none of it.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Jeffy moves into the clinch successfully.
Lee prevents Jeffy from breaking the clinch.

Jeffy decides to pull guard.
Jeffy avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Jeffy wants to sweep here but Lee controlling him for the moment.

Jeffy has his foot on Lee's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lee works his way back into a safe position though.
Jeffy is breathing heavily.

Lee works over Jeffy with some ground and pound from guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jeffy can do anything to dispel that myth.

Jeffy pulls Lee in close to his closed guard and prevents Lee from doing any damage or advancing position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Lee throws a big elbow that misses.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Lee moves in looking to clinch but Jeffy pushes him off.
Lee misses with a head kick.

Lee takes the fight into the clinch.
Jeffy wants to break free but Lee has control.
Lee jumps guard but Jeffy turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Lee fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Lee takes a knee right on the jaw!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jeffy prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kyle Lee. That's going to take a lot out of him.
With the fighters up against the cage, Jeffy throws an elbow but misses.
Jeffy blocks a body shot from Lee.
Lee looking to stall.

Jeffy has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Lee uses from the top position.
Lee is looking to work some ground and pound but Jeffy has wrist control.

Lee postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Jeffy Jeffy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Jeffy closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Lee tries to pull guard but Jeffy won't allow it.
Lee goes for a takedown attempt but Jeffy pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Lee looks for a takedown but Jeffy sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kyle Lee. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lee wants to clinch up but Jeffy keeps it at a distance.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lee.

Jeffy has Lee up against the cage in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lee has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Jeffy is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Jeffy has hold of one of Lee's legs. Lee is fighting the takedown attempt but Jeffy gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Lee is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Jeffy has his hands clasped together but Lee extends and breaks Jeffy's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Lee.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Kyle Lee!
