Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Edgar Stevenson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mike McCormic! The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Santiago Holmes and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stevenson lands with a straight right. McCormic didn't see that one coming. Stevenson lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. McCormic slips a jab from Stevenson. McCormic swings for the body but Stevenson moves out of range.
McCormic looks to land a right hand but Stevenson moved out of range. Stevenson scores with a jab to the head.
A big left from Stevenson misses. Stevenson throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Stevenson swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by McCormic. Stevenson swings for the body but McCormic moves out of range.
Stevenson looks to score with a jab to the body but McCormic is just out of range. It seemed like McCormic was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Nice defenses there by McCormic. Stevenson scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Stevenson throws a right hand that misses
and McCormic connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's one minute gone in the round. McCormic showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Stevenson.
Nice cross by Stevenson. Stevenson throws a wild combination but nothing lands. McCormic throws out a counter right but Stevenson avoids it with no problem. Stevenson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but McCormic moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Stevenson rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and McCormic counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. McCormic keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Stevenson lands a nice looking body shot.
McCormic walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Edgar Stevenson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. McCormic defending well as Stevenson loads up on a big left hand. A countering left hand to the body from McCormic misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McCormic lands a big uppercut and Stevenson crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Stevenson looks OK. McCormic waves Stevenson back to his feet!
Stevenson is rocked! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! McCormic takes one to the side of the head.
Oh Stevenson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! McCormic moves out of range as Stevenson strikes. Stevenson seems to have got his legs back now. McCormic bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. McCormic misses with a looping right. It looked like Stevenson wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Stevenson loads up on a big right hand but McCormic slips the punch. Stevenson swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. McCormic throws out a counter right but Stevenson avoids it with no problem. Stevenson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Stevenson misses with a hook. McCormic ducked under it nicely. A countering left hand to the body from McCormic misses. Stevenson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stevenson's corner calls for a 1-2. Stevenson obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Stevenson misses with a jab to the body
and McCormic counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Stevenson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
McCormic drops Stevenson with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Stevenson looks back up at him and smiles so McCormic waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! McCormic takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Stevenson feints a jab promting McCormic to slip. Stevenson then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. McCormic slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. McCormic lands a brutal uppercut that launches Stevenson off his feet! Stevenson tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Mike McCormic!
