Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Novel Corona (ranked 5268 p4p, 5870 weight class) and Rafael Vasconcelos (ranked 523 p4p, 552 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Novel Corona!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rafael Vasconcelos!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vasconcelos lands a head kick. Corona smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Vasconcelos throws a quick inside leg kick.
Corona feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Vasconceloss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Corona misses with a jab, cross combination.
And Vasconcelos responds with a good body kick, but Corona manages to step out the way in time.
Corona misses the shot to the body.
Corona chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Vasconcelos can pounce on him.

Vasconcelos pushes Corona up against the cage in a clinch.

Vasconcelos manages to break the clinch.
Vasconcelos throws a sloppy head kick and Corona moves out of range easily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Corona. Vasconcelos does a little dance to reset his feet.

Corona lands a left and a right that send Vasconcelos crashing to the mat, dazed. Corona thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Vasconcelos is rocked!

It looks like Rafael Vasconcelos has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Vasconcelos takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Vasconcelos is still on wobbly legs! Can Corona finish him?
A nice inside leg kick there by Vasconcelos. That's going to slow Corona down.
Vasconcelos seems to have recovered his senses.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Corona crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Vasconcelos - the referee stops the clock and Corona gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Vasconcelos. Corona manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Corona tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Corona lands with a cross.

Vasconcelos darts in and clinches Corona up against the cage.
Vasconcelos throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Coronas head.
Corona definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Vasconcelos manages to break the clinch.
Vasconcelos throws a body kick that misses
and Corona counters with a series of strikes. Vasconcelos will be more careful next time no doubt.

Corona drops Vasconcelos with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Vasconcelos looks back up at him and smiles so Corona waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Corona lands a lovely overhand right.
Corona takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Vasconcelos throws a quick inside leg kick.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Corona keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Vasconcelos's efforts to push away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Vasconcelos's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Corona is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Vasconcelos is keeping busy.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Corona can't seem to implement his control oriented gameplan at the moment. That's no bad thing of course, for those of us who want to see a good fight.
Vasconcelos has Corona pressed against the cage.

Vasconcelos escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Some wild striking there from Corona.

Corona has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Vasconcelos.
Corona fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Corona walks forward, straight into a front kick from Vasconcelos.
Vasconcelos throws a body kick that misses.
Corona on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Vasconcelos. Vasconcelos obviously looking to wear him down.
Corona chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Vasconcelos can pounce on him.
Corona throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Vasconcelos on the side of the head.
Vasconcelos lands a leg kick that knocks Corona off balance momentarily.
Corona just misses with a punch to the body.
Corona ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
A swing and a miss from Corona.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Corona throws a lazy right hand but Vasconcelos sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Vasconcelos dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Corona. That did some damage!
Corona fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Vasconcelos looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

and Corona counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Corona!
Vasconcelos rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Corona counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Corona is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Corona throws a series of punches but Vasconcelos moves out of range.
Vasconcelos fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Sloppy strikes from Vasconcelos. Those never looked like landing.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Corona swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Vasconcelos throws a leg kick
and Corona counters with a nice uppercut.
Corona checks a leg kick.
Corona throws a big counter combination but Vasconcelos scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Novel Corona dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Rafael Vasconcelos's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Corona throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Vasconcelos counters with a body kick.
Novel Corona is winning the standup battle so far.
Corona fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
A jab from Corona finds it's way through Vasconcelos's defenses.
Vasconcelos avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Vasconcelos throws out a counter right but Corona avoids it with no problem.
Corona bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Vasconcelos's head.
Vasconcelos misses with a head kick.
Vasconcelos uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Corona.
Corona lands a jab to Vasconcelos's midsection.
Corona avoids a kick to the body.
A counter left hand to the body from Corona misses its target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Corona lands a left and a right that send Vasconcelos crashing to the mat, dazed. Corona thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Vasconcelos misses with a kick to the body.
Nice straight punches there by Corona. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Corona.
Corona tries to bum rush Vasconcelos with a series of wild strikes but Vasconcelos uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
It seemed like Vasconcelos was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Vasconcelos gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Vasconcelos tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Corona is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Vasconcelos buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Vasconcelos!! Vasconcelos is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Corona throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:08 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Novel Corona!
Novel Corona bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
