Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sonny James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Demon!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.





The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Demon uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from James.
James throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Demon counters with a left to the body.
Demon should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Demon will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

James looking to score a takedown here. Demon is defending well but James drives through and ends up in Demon's guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Demon manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
James wants to get back to striking at distance but Demon won't allow it.
Demon lands with a left to the head.
James tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Demon creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Demon lands a hook to the side of the head.
Demon is pushing James up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Demon unloads a knee to the mid-section. James lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
James is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Demon creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Demon misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from James.
James wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Demon has him pressed against the cage.
Demon lands with a left to the head.

James pulls Demon into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Demon is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Demon keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of James's head.
Demon must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Demon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. James swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Demon slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Demon's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Demon with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Demon controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
James will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Demon pushes down on James's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Still in half guard, Demon seems content to control.
James is trying to maintain the position but Demon is very close to passing his half guard.
Ground and pound from Demon.
Demon working over James with some ground and pound. James looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Demon wants to pass to mount but James is defending the position.
James has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Demon is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Demon is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Demon's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
James looks like he's trying to stand up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
James throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Demon steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from James.
Demon getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Demon's coach down at Cobro-Kaï Elite Training Facility was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Demon's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

James gets a takedown into half guard.

Demon pushes James off and gets back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

James clinches with his opponent.
Demon is stalling here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michael Demon dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



James shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Demon napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Demon is trying to buck James off.
Demon managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by James.
Demon is pushing James's head away, looking to escape. James manages to hold on to the position though.

James stands up and we're back to a striking position.

James clinches up with Demon and pushes him back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

James works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Demon uses the cage to get back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

James drives through and clinches with Demon against the cage.
Demon lands with a short punch from the clinch.

James ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. James no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

James wants to stand but Demon is controlling the position.

James lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Demon manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Demon blocks a head kick by James.
A countering left hand to the body from Demon misses.

James bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Demon bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Demon has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Demon is breathing heavily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sonny James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Demon gets tackled into the cage by James. James maintains the clinch.

James has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Demon regains guard immediately.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Demon manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

James is looking to regain half guard here but Demon keeps moving and retains side control.

James wants to control but Demon is keeping busy and won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michael Demon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

James fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Demon sprawls well initially but James persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Demon manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. James keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Demon lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

James tightens his grip and picks Demon up, before dumping him to the ground. Demon manages to land in guard.

Demon scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Demon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Demon is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Sloppy strikes there by James.
Demon is not content to let James control the position.
Demon is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, James asserts his dominance and retains side control.

James stands up.
James throws a head kick that misses.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

James feints and as Demon raises his hands in defense, James changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Demon pushes James off and gets back to his feet.
Demon dodges the punch combination from James.
Demon is clearly trying to counter these attacks from James with a body shot.
Michael Demon is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

James takes the fight into the clinch.
Demon lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Demon.

Michael Demon seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

James is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
James tries to break free but Demon pushes him back against the cage.

Demon lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Demon swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Demon lands with a short shot to the head.
Demon tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Demon pushes James back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

James turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and James manages to end up in side control.

Demon throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
This has been an exciting period of action!

and Demon counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Demon.
James tries a body shot but Demon blocks it.
Demon has James pressed against the cage.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

James has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Demon is trying to keep an underhook but James manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Demon kicks James off and gets back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Michael Demon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Demon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
