PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Alex Murray (ranked 608 p4p, 36 weight class) and Tommy Reed (ranked 2126 p4p, 120 weight class). Reed has chosen Tupac ft 50 Cent - Get Up Remix as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alex Murray!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tommy Reed!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Nard Betker and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murray's corner calls for a 1-2. Murray obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

and Reed counters with a shoot takedown. Murray fights it but they end up in guard.
Murray has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Murray is looking to stand up but Reed isn't so interested in that idea.
Reed distracts Murray with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Reed drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Reed jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Murray manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Reed changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Murray tries to avoid it but Reed manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Murray to the ground. Murray escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Reed gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Reed apologises and we restart here on the feet.
