PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alexandria OcasioCortez (ranked 5558 p4p, 4761 weight class) and Nario Gwan (ranked 558 p4p, 517 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think OcasioCortez might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Side to Side. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alexandria OcasioCortez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nario Gwan!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.





The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gwan swings for the body but OcasioCortez moves out of range.
A quick step to the side and OcasioCortez tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Gwan cracks OcasioCortez with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
OcasioCortez walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
OcasioCortez takes one on the button.
A jab from Gwan does it's job there.

It looks like Alexandria OcasioCortez has been cut.
Gwan throws the left hand but OcasioCortez avoids the punch easily.
It looked like OcasioCortez wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Gwan lands a nice looking body shot.
Gwan rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and OcasioCortez counters with a stiff right hand.
Gwan swings widly with a right hand
and OcasioCortez counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Gwan bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
OcasioCortez displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Gwan throws out the jab.
Gwan connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed OcasioCortez momentarily.
Gwan scores with the left hand. OcasioCortez knows he should have avoided that one.
Gwan moves away from the strike by OcasioCortez.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gwan misses with an uppercut.
Gwan lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Gwan lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
A lazy left from Gwan finds it's target.
Gwan just misses with a punch to the body.
It looked like OcasioCortez wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Gwan is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! OcasioCortez had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Gwan avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Gwan fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
OcasioCortez takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
OcasioCortez has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from OcasioCortez there as he acknowledges the shot.
Gwan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but OcasioCortez was well out of range. Poor timing from Gwan.
OcasioCortez slips a straight right by Gwan.
OcasioCortez throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gwan sees it coming and avoids it easily.
OcasioCortez lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gwan walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Gwan is rocked!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A swing and a miss from Gwan.
A little feinted left hand from OcasioCortez on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
A jab from Gwan finds it's way through OcasioCortez's defenses.
Gwan lands a straight punch to the body, keeping OcasioCortez at a distance.
Gwan misses the jab.
OcasioCortez moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Gwan throws a poor cross that misses

and OcasioCortez counters with a nice right hand that sends Gwan toppling to the canvas! Gwan scrambles and gets back to his feet - can OcasioCortez finish him?!
Gwan is still on wobbly legs! Can OcasioCortez finish him?
OcasioCortez is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Gwan flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Gwan is out cold! OcasioCortez holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Alexandria OcasioCortez!
Alexandria OcasioCortez really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Altitude Clothing logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
