Malverde swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Malverde tries to clinch but Koso is having none of it.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Koso has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Malverde does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Koso is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Malverde rather than just go for the knockout.
Malverde throws a hook to the side of Koso's head but Koso sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Malverde clinches up against the cage.
Koso is looking for a takedown.
Koso blocks an uppercut.
Koso tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Malverde's elbow.

Koso pulls guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Malverde got a little sloppy there for a moment and Koso has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Malverde has managed to get both his arms back between Koso's legs - danger averted.
Malverde controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Koso throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Malverde escapes and throws Koso's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Malverde works to advance to full mount. Koso defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Koso reaches up to try and control the position but Malverde seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Koso rolls and tries to escape and now Malverde has his back!
Koso manages to reverse the position and now he's in Malverde's guard. Nice work there by Koso.

Malverde wants to sweep here but Koso controlling him for the moment.

Malverde has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Koso can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Koso sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Malverde's guard.

Malverde has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Koso. Oh but Malverde has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Koso goes limp - he's gone! Malverde jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Jesus Malverde decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
