Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Howard! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Martin Robshaw! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Lou da Vinci and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Howard misses with a combination
and Robshaw counters with a nice uppercut. Robshaw slips a jab and a cross from Howard.
Howard tries to bum rush Robshaw with a series of wild strikes but Robshaw uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Robshaw looks to land a combination but Howard avoids it well. Howard misses with a kick to the body.
Robshaw connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Howard momentarily.
It looks like Michael Howard has been cut. Robshaw swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Robshaw has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Howard misses with a combination
and Robshaw counters with a nice uppercut. We've been hearing reports that Howard has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Howard throws a nice looking combination but Robshaw bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Howard steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Robshaw. Howard lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Robshaw circles away quickly and effectively. Howard takes a jab right on the kisser.
Robshaw misses with an uppercut. Howard saw that one coming. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Howard takes a shot right to the bread basket. Michael Howard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Howard lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Robshaw circles away quickly and effectively. Robshaw looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Howard throws a right hand that Robshaw ducks under and follows up with a left that Robshaw also avoids with ease. Robshaw has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Robshaw misses with a straight left. Howard takes one on the button.
Howard is rocked! Robshaw closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Howard! Robshaw dives in looking to finish! Howard is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
