PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jah Wobble (ranked 1134 p4p, 136 weight class) and Frankie Lamas (ranked 7710 p4p, 553 weight class). Wobble comes to the cage accompanied by Jimmy Barnes - Working Class Man. Jah Wobble has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jah Wobble!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frankie Lamas!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Atkins and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lamas misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Wobble drops down looking for a counter takedown but Lamas sprawls and moves away.
Lamas throws a jab but it's blocked by Wobble.
Wobble half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Lamas fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Wobble manages to avoid it.
Wobble fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Lamas looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Lamas throws a series of punches but Wobble moves out of range.
Wobble wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Lamas misses with a double jab

and Wobble counters with a shoot takedown. Lamas fights it but they end up in guard.
Wobble controls from within his opponent's guard.
Wobble in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lamas is pulling down on Wobble's head. It's preventing any offense from Wobble, at least for the moment.
Lamas utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Lamas has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Wobble has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Lamas throws a knee to the head but misses.
Lamas's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Wobble is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Lamas pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Wobble is trying to drag Lamas to the mat but Lamas just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Wobble is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Lamas is defending well.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Lamas closes the distance and clinches.
Wobble takes a knee to the side of the body.
Lamas tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Wobble has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Lamas after a bit of a struggle.

Wobble is trying to trip Lamas. He has hold of a leg but Lamas is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Wobble persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wobble throwing strikes from guard but Lamas blocks nicely.
Wobble looking to sit in guard and control but Lamas gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Wobble has his foot on Lamas's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lamas works his way back into a safe position though.
Lamas wants to stand but Wobble has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Wobble wants to sweep but no luck.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frankie Lamas dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Lamas cracks Wobble with an open hand slap.


It looks like Jah Wobble has been cut.
Lamas tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Lamas lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Wobble backs up against the cage.

Wobble gets tackled into the cage by Lamas. Lamas maintains the clinch.
Wobble has Lamas pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Lamas manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Wobble goes for a takedown in the clinch but Lamas prevents it.
Wobble tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Lamas has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Wobble seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Lamas can turn it around.

Wobble stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lamas swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Lamas has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jah Wobble will probably get the nod.

I would just about give that final round to Frankie Lamas.
