The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yreka throws a body shot but no joy. Yreka throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Yreka swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Yreka throws a nice looking combination but Heikkinen bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Heikkinen throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. A combination from Yreka does no damage. Heikkinen scores with a hook. Yreka misses with a double jab
and Heikkinen counters with a nice double leg into side control. Yreka won't be happy with that. Yreka tries to control but Heikkinen manages to take his back. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Heikkinen keeps control of the position easily here as Yreka tries to buck him off.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yreka just trying to survive but Heikkinen is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Heikkinen misses with punches from the back. Heikkinen controlling from the back. Heikkinen looking to soften up his opponent with punches.
Heikkinen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Heikkinen cracks Yreka with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Yreka from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

Good control from Heikkinen. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Yreka is trying to remain composed but Heikkinen is hammering down strikes to the side of his head. Oooh a big shot gets through from Heikkinen. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

Well, with Heikkinen on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Yreka is tapping out... Can he escape the position? That's four minutes gone in the round. It looks like Heikkinen might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Yreka covers up after that shot from Heikkinen.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Heikkinen controlling the position well here. Yreka rolled but Heikkinen kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Heikkinen lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A head kick lands from Heikkinen that sends Yreka to the canvas. Yreka tries to scramble back to his feet but Heikkinen brings him back down into side control. Yreka looking for a sweep but Heikkinen has passed into full mount! Oh no! Heikkinen working away from the top, dropping strikes. Yreka is rocked! Heikkinen lands a heavy shot. That's hurt Yreka! Heikkinen sees the opportunity and turns up the heat - strike after strike land to the defenseless Yreka and the ref dives in to save him! This one is all over!
