Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Valdis Zatlers!

Nice takedown defense from Zatlers. No joy for Farva on that attempt.
Zatlers throws a fast counter high kick but Farva manages to duck under it in time.
Zatlers looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Farva throws a big shot that misses.
Farva shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Zatlers as he jumps to the side.
Farva shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Zatlers's guard.
Farva postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Farva connects with a couple of short punches.
Farva throws a big right hand that misses.
Farva scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Farva distracts Zatlers with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Farva's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Farva is working Zatlers over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Farva wants to control from the top but Zatlers keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Zatlers is rocked!
Farva postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Zatlers covers up, he's hurt! Farva keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Farva and the ref steps in to end the fight! Farva can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.

Rodney Farva was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
