Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dylan Cody (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cristiano Vasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cody comes to the cage accompanied by Adrenaline-Gavin Rossdale. Vasquez is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Cigaro. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dylan Cody! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cristiano Vasquez! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Wesley Smith and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vasquez fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Vasquez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cody. Cody has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Cody misses with a jab, cross combination.
Cody ducks under a wild hook from Vasquez. Vasquez fails miserably with a takedown attempt. No joy there for Cody, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Cody closes the distance and pushes Vasquez back into the cage. Cody breaks the clinch.

Cody shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Vasquez as he jumps to the side. Cristiano Vasquez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cody throws a series of punches but Vasquez moves out of range. Cody misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Vasquez drops Cody with a right and a left! Vasquez comes rushing in but Cody regains his composure and manages to keep Vasquez in guard.
Cody is rocked! Cody is breathing heavily. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cody controls Vasquez momentarily but Vasquez frees himself. Oh Cody is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

I looks like Vasquez might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Vasquez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Vasquez takes Cody's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Cody is in trouble. Cody is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
