Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Junichi Sasai (ranked 25922 p4p, 6762 weight class) and Donny Jay (ranked 726 p4p, 642 weight class). Donny Jay has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Junichi Sasai! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Donny Jay! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Tarja Halkonen and Matti Vanhoillinen.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jay. Sasai scores with a jab to the body. Sasai shoots in for a takedown but Jay shows good takedown defense. Sasai lands with a right hand. Jay ducks right into an uppercut from Sasai. Sasai's jab looks to have found its range, popping Jay under the eye. Jay shoots in but Sasai avoids the takedown attempt easily. Sasai looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Jay! Jay sneaks out the side door and pushes Sasai away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sasai bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Jay's head. Sasai shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Sasai throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jay moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Sasai looking to sit in guard and control but Jay gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Jay wants to pass the guard but Sasai is keeping the position. Jay distracts Sasai with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Sasai preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Jay won't allow Sasai to sweep him here. Jay wants to control from the top but Sasai keeps moving. Jay postures up in Sasai's guard and throws a big left but Sasai blocks it. Jay with a flurry of punches that miss. Jay trying to stand up but can't free himself from Sasai's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sasai is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Jay wants to pass the guard but Sasai is keeping the position. Jay trying to control the position from guard on top but Sasai is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jay trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Jay wants to stand but Sasai is controlling his posture from full guard. Sasai wants to sweep here but Jay controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Jay stands and steps away. Sasai gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Junichi Sasai has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Donny Jay. Jay stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jay wants it to stay on the feet. Jay looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. It looked like Sasai was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Jay. Sasai looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Sasai shoots in looking for a takedown but Jay manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sasai's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Jay tries to clinch but Sasai moves out of range. Nice jab there from Sasai. A punch combination from Jay misses. Sasai lands with a straight right. Jay didn't see that one coming. Sasai tries for a takedown but Jay sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Sasai jabs at Jay's body. Sasai lands with an overhand left. Sasai closes the distance and clinches up with Jay, looking for a takedown. Sasai pushes Jay against the cage but Jay circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Sasai fails with the takedown. Jay clinches up against the cage.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sasai takes a swing at Jay's ribcage but misses. Jay tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Sasai manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Sasai fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Sasai shoots in but Jay avoids the takedown attempt easily. Sasai shoots in looking for a takedown. Jay tries to sprawl out of it but Sasai keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jay manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Sasai smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Sasai ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Sasai bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Jay's head backwards. Jay pushes Sasai up against the cage in a clinch. Jay breaks the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Junichi Sasai will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Jay shoots in but Sasai avoids the takedown attempt easily. Sasai looks for a takedown but Jay sprawls well. Jay wants to counter the offense by Sasai and move into the clinch position. Sasai looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Sasai lands a lovely overhand right. Jay fails with the takedown. Jay tries to bum rush Sasai with a series of wild strikes but Sasai uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Sasai fails to land the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Junichi Sasai. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jay gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Sasai misses the shot to the body. Junichi Sasai seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sasai fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jay manages to avoid it. Jay let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Jay dives in for a single leg takedown but Sasai sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Sasai lands a right hook to the body.

Sasai feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Jays jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Sasai shoots in but Jay avoids the takedown attempt easily. Jay darts in looking for a takedown but Sasai gets double underhooks and turns Jay into the cage. Sasai fails with a takedown attempt. Sasai closes the distance and clinches up with Jay, looking for a takedown. Sasai pushes Jay against the cage but Jay circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Sasai leaves Jay with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Jay slaps away a takedown attempt from Sasai, before circling back to the center of the mat. Sasai throws a body punch but Jay moves out of range. Jay tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Sasai defends well and Jay ends up having to push Sasai into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Jay is breathing heavily. Jay closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sasai circles away. Sasai with a body punch. A glancing blow.

The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sasai tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jay sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sasai somewhat. Sasai scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Sasai shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jay defends it nicely.

Junichi Sasai dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards. Jay takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Sasai scores with a hook to the body. Jay takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Jay slaps away a takedown attempt from Sasai, before circling back to the center of the mat. Sasai lands a really nice looking cross but Jay seems unphased.

He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Sasai throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Jay is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Jay has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Jay prevents Sasai from improving his position. Junichi Sasai is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Sasai is staying active underneath Jay, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Jay tries to stand but can't do so whilst Sasai controls his leg. Sasai slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Donny Jay has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Sasai keeping full guard, as Jay tries to pass. Jay thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Sasai is looking to stand up but Jay isn't so interested in that idea. Sasai on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Sasai tries to get out of the position. Sasai keeping moving, preventing Jay from controlling successfully. Sasai trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Junichi Sasai. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sasai, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
