PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tyler Hines (ranked 2748 p4p, 2660 weight class) and Hugh Jackmen (ranked 353 p4p, 348 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Hugh Jackmen was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tyler Hines!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Hugh Jackmen!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Konstantin Menshow and Illya Tyunina.

Hines fails with the takedown
and Jackmen counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Jackmen slips a jab and a cross from Hines.
Hines misses with a takedown attempt - Jackmen sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Hines throws a left and a right that both miss
and Jackmen cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Hines tries to move into range but Jackmen moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Hines looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Jackmen pushes Hines off looking to stand but Hines dives back in and keeps control.
Hines seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Hines wants to work for an arm triangle but Jackmen is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Hines is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Jackmen is looking to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hines is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jackmen is just riding it out for now. Hines eventually gives up the hold.
Hines is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Hines is working for a submission of some sort.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Hines landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Jackmen is trying to escape back to his feet but Hines uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Jackmen pushes Hines away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Hines gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Hines is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jackmen has escaped the position, nice work there.

Hines lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Jackmen down.
Jackmen is trying to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Hines swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Jackmen counters with a one-two to the body.
Hines throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Jackmen lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Hines throws a left and a right that both miss
and Jackmen connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Jackmen fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

and Jackmen counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Hines falls off balance throwing a combination
and Jackmen counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Hines thinking.
Hines tries for a takedown but Jackmen circles away easily
and Jackmen counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Jackmen scores with a shot to the body.
Jackmen thuds a left hand into Hines's body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hines looks to land a combination but Jackmen avoids it well.
Hugh Jackmen seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

and Jackmen counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Jackmen leaves Hines with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Jackmen throws a counter combo.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tyler Hines. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jackmen's corner calls for a 1-2. Jackmen obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Hines throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Jackmen counters with a nice uppercut.

Jackmen throws a series of strikes that have Hines backpedaling.

and Jackmen counters with a left and a right that stings Hines.
Oh Hines is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jackmen lands a nice shot to the body.
Jackmen throws a left jab followed by a right to the body, Oh Hines colapses and takes a barrage of punches from Jackmen as he moves to mount! the ref stops the fight and Hines is left battered and dazed whilst Jackmen and his camp cheer!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hugh Jackmen!
