This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 24 wins and 13 losses; Igor Byhenikov!
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Gracie gets caught napping as Byhenikov dives in and scores a takedown. Gracie manages to retain guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Gracie (0) vs (2) Byhenikov The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Byhenikov tries to free his leg and advance position but Gracie is retaining full guard. Gracie has control of Byhenikov's left arm, preventing Byhenikov from doing any damage. Gracie has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Byhenikov pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gracie is keeping the position for now. Byhenikov looks more muscular than last time we saw him. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Gracie wants to get back to full guard. Gracie moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Gracie tries to land a sweep but no joy. Gracie is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Byhenikov wants to pass the guard but Gracie is keeping the position. Gracie pulls Byhenikov in close to his closed guard and prevents Byhenikov from doing any damage or advancing position. Byhenikov looking to pass the guard. Byhenikov is still trying to improve position. Gracie has his foot on Byhenikov's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Byhenikov works his way back into a safe position though.

Byhenikov drops back looking for a leg! Gracie is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gracie manages to kick Byhenikov off! Byhenikov jumps back into Gracie's guard. Gracie can't keep his opponent in guard - Byhenikov advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Byhenikov tries to pass the half guard into mount. Gracie knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Gracie wants to control but Byhenikov is keeping busy and won't allow it. Byhenikov passes to side control. After the fight, Ramon Gracie was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things.
