This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 1 losses; John Diokane! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 1 losses; Ergun Cerrahoglu!
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Cerrahoglu instigates a clinch. Diokane tries for a takedown. No joy.
Cerrahoglu has Diokane pressed up against the ropes and is working for takedown. Diokane manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Cerrahoglu has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Cerrahoglu drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Cerrahoglu has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Diokane avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. John Diokane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ergun Cerrahoglu. Cerrahoglu is working for takedown but Diokane is calmly controlling the position for now. Diokane tries to score a body lock takedown but Cerrahoglu shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Diokane is working for a takedown up against the ropes. He can't get it on this occasion though. Cerrahoglu can't get the takedown.
Diokane goes for a takedown attempt but Cerrahoglu pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Diokane fails in his attempt to clinch. Cerrahoglu rushes Diokane and presses him up against the ropes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Diokane gets underhooks to prevent Cerrahoglu's takedown attempt.
Diokane is fighting off a takedown attempt but Cerrahoglu is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Diokane to the mat. Diokane regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Cerrahoglu really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Diokane. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Cerrahoglu stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Diokane swivels though and keeps the full guard. Diokane is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Diokane is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Cerrahoglu drops back looking for a leg! Diokane is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Diokane manages to kick Cerrahoglu off! Cerrahoglu jumps back into Diokane's guard. Cerrahoglu is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Diokane keeping full guard, as Cerrahoglu tries to pass.

Let's see if Cerrahoglu can do anything to dispel that myth. Cerrahoglu can't keep his opponent in guard - Diokane advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Cerrahoglu wants to get back to full guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Diokane in particular looking to stall. Cerrahoglu wants to get back to full guard. Cerrahoglu is not content to let Diokane control the position. Cerrahoglu tries to get to full guard but Diokane has control of the leg. Cerrahoglu is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Nope, Cerrahoglu has managed to escape the submission attempt.

The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Cerrahoglu regains half guard. Diokane moves nicely into side control.
