Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Timo Bader (ranked 994 p4p, 1258 weight class) and Carl Brooks (ranked 117 p4p, 152 weight class). Brooks has chosen Eminem - Phenomenal as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Bader has managed to clinch.
Bader is trying to break the clinch but Brooks is controlling him.
Bader has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Bader throws out a loose jab but Brooks uses good head movement to avoid it.
An inside leg kick lands from Bader.
Bader lands with an uppercut that bounces Brooks off the cage and back into range.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Brooks has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

As Brooks looks to move away, Bader throws a big counter combo but Brooks just gets out of the way.

and Brooks counters with a shoot takedown. Bader fights it but they end up in guard.
Bader is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Brooks is controlling him.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Brooks breaks from Bader's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Brooks postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Bader looks a forlorn figure.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Brooks cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Oh Bader is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Brooks lands a big shot to the head and Bader winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Carl Brooks!
During a confident post fight interview, Carl Brooks thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
