Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dada Segbo (ranked 1018 p4p, 1074 weight class) and DeMar DeRozan (ranked 147 p4p, 156 weight class). Segbo kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is For Heavy Metal we will die!. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 9 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dada Segbo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 12 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, DeMar DeRozan! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Segbo lands with a kick to the temple. DeRozan shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Segbo goes for a double leg but DeRozan avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as DeRozan continues to drive forward. A little jabbing left from DeRozan on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. DeRozan misses with an uppercut. Segbo saw that one coming. It looked like Segbo was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from DeRozan. Dada Segbo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Segbo moves into the clinch successfully.

The fighters circling - DeRozan throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Segbo slips a jab from DeRozan. Segbo throws a half hearted mid kick. DeRozan only half commits to the counter leg kick. DeRozan fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Segbo. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Segbo throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. DeRozan was covering up waiting for the punch and Segbo finishes the takedown easily into guard. Segbo with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. DeRozan controlling Segbo's posture.
That's one minute gone in the round. DeRozan keeping moving, preventing Segbo from controlling successfully. We've been hearing that Segbo has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. DeRozan is adopting a defensive guard. DeRozan is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Segbo tries to get to full guard but DeRozan has control of the leg. DeRozan controlling the action here. Segbo is trying to get back to full guard. Segbo looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Segbo moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Segbo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Segbo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. DeRozan seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. DeRozan trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Segbo looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Segbo is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. DeRozan is aware though and is defending well. DeRozan is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. DeRozan wants to control from the top but Segbo keeps moving.

Segbo can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as DeRozan controls the pace. Let's hope that DeRozan has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Segbo is controlling DeRozan's posture. The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. DeRozan misses with a low kick.
Segbo quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect. DeRozan throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

DeRozan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Segbo manages to avoid it. Segbo takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
DeRozan drops his hands momentarily and Segbo takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. DeRozan misses with a body shot.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Segbo. DeRozan has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Segbo scoring with punches from side control. A bit of a lull in the action here. Segbo tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dada Segbo dominated that round. That's time! Segbo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. DeRozan looks to land a left hand but Segbo moved out of range nicely. Segbo fires out a quick counter leg kick but DeRozan just manages to avoid it. An inside leg kick from DeRozan misses. Segbo is looking to land body kicks. DeRozan throws an off balance right hand
and Segbo counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. DeRozan finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
DeRozan throws a body kick that misses and Segbo counters with a slapping leg kick. Segbo throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Segbo walks into a jab. Segbo closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Segbo lands in his opponent's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. DeRozan pulls Segbo in close to his closed guard and prevents Segbo from doing any damage or advancing position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Segbo trying to control the position from guard on top but DeRozan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Segbo missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Segbo cracks DeRozan with a solid left hand. Segbo tries to free his leg and advance position but DeRozan is retaining full guard. DeRozan is trying to keep Segbo in close.
Segbo with a nice head shot there. Segbo passes DeRozan's right leg, so he's now in half guard. DeRozan regains full guard. Nicely done. Segbo is looking to work some ground and pound but DeRozan has wrist control. Segbo content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Segbo postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! DeRozan covers up, he's hurt! Segbo keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Segbo and the ref steps in to end the fight! Segbo can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dada Segbo! After the fight, Dada Segbo was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
