PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Royal Pain (ranked 3375 p4p, 7191 weight class) and Hatfield McCoy (ranked 373 p4p, 586 weight class). Pain comes to the cage accompanied by AC/DC Thunderstruck. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 28 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Royal Pain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hatfield McCoy!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.

McCoy stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and McCoy wants it to stay on the feet.
McCoy looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Pain lands with a hook. McCoy tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Pain throws a hook to the side of McCoy's head but McCoy sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Well, if McCoy is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Pain is looking for a sweep. McCoy is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Pain has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McCoy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Pain tries to buck McCoy off but McCoy is having none of it.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

McCoy connects with a solid leg kick.

Pain misses with a takedown attempt - McCoy sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Pain throws a lazy right hand but McCoy sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Pain wants to clinch.
Despite the aggression on McCoy's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
McCoy throws a head kick but Pain moves out of range.
Pain thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on McCoy if he has to take too many more of those.
McCoy has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
McCoy bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
McCoy appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

Pain clinches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pain misses with a hook to the ribs.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

McCoy breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A good leg kick by McCoy.
McCoy plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Pain changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. McCoy tries to avoid it but Pain manages to keep hold of a leg and drag McCoy to the ground. McCoy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
McCoy doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
McCoy stalks Pain and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Pain's face. Pain staggers backwards, shaken.
Nice jab there from McCoy.
McCoy takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Hatfield McCoy is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

McCoy misses with a wild combination.
McCoy will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Hatfield McCoy is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pain tries to clinch there but McCoy circles away.

McCoy connects with the punch.
Pain tries to close the distance and clinch up but McCoy swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Pain darts in and clinches McCoy up against the cage.
Pain tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Pain keeps the fight in the clinch, despite McCoy's efforts to push away.
Pain doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Pain misses with a hook from the clinch.

McCoy has Pain pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. McCoy pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Pain tumbling to the mat - McCoy dives into Pain's guard.
McCoy throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pain works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
McCoy is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

McCoy wants to control from the top but Pain keeps moving.
Pain not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Pain is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McCoy defends well.
McCoy slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
McCoy controls the position.
McCoy connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Pain some visible discomfort.
Pain is trying to get back to half guard.
Pain is not content to let McCoy control the position.

Pain is looking to reverse the position.
Pain manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Pain wants to improve his position but McCoy is controlling well.

Pain is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but McCoy pulls his head out easily.
McCoy thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Pain's head.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Pain manages to get to full guard.

Hatfield McCoy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

McCoy drops Pain with a left and a right! Oh, Pain is hurt - McCoy dives into side control looking to finish!

Pain is rocked!
McCoy scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Pain is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and McCoy can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hatfield McCoy!
During a confident post fight interview, Hatfield McCoy thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
Royal Pain was interviewed post fight and said 'Shit, there goes my chance to be like Mike.'.
