Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Simon Gustafsson!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Valeri Chadov and Viktor Lagutenko.

Gustafsson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts James as he jumps to the side.
Gustafsson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Liam James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
James looks to score with a jab to the body but Gustafsson is just out of range.
Gustafsson wants to counter with a clinch but James pushes him away.
James lands with a cross.
James jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Gustafsson shoots in looking for a takedown but James manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gustafsson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
James is looking to counter punch.
Liam James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Simon Gustafsson.
James throws a right and a left that Gustafsson avoids nicely.
James has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gustafsson.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
James throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
James loads up on a big right hand but Gustafsson slips the punch.

James throws a hook but Gustafsson avoids it easily.

and Gustafsson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Gustafsson.

James manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
James has had enough of the clinch but Gustafsson keeps him there for the moment.
Gustafsson keeps control of James as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Gustafsson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. James avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Gustafsson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Gustafsson avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
And Gustafsson tries to counter it with a takedown but James pushes his down on his head and steps out.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

James throws a good cross that connects.

Gustafsson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

James has one foot on Gustafsson's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Gustafsson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. James tries to avoid it but Gustafsson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag James to the ground. James escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A left lands for James.
James throws a lazy uppercut

and Gustafsson counters with a takedown into side control.
James wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
James trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Gustafsson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

James is trying to buck Gustafsson off.
Gustafsson in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
James is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Gustafsson is controlling him well.

Gustafsson has worked his way into a potential kimura here. James is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Gustafsson yanks on the arm and James is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Gustafsson.
