The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griggs scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Jay gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Griggs.
Griggs throws a shot to the body.
Jay walks into a jab.
Griggs wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Jay shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Griggs as he avoids it easily.
Griggs appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Griggs cracks Jay with a right hand to the side of the head.

Jay's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Griggs connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Jay scrambles back to his feet.

Jay is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jay fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Griggs avoids it really well and circles away.

Griggs drops Jay with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Jay looks back up at him and smiles so Griggs waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Griggs cracks Jay with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Jay looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Griggs finish him?
Jay is still on wobbly legs! Can Griggs finish him?
Griggs cracks Jay with a right hand to the side of the head.
Griggs moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Jay seems to have recovered his senses.

Griggs lands a big uppercut and Jay crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Jay looks OK. Griggs waves Jay back to his feet!
Jay looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Fran Griggs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Donny Jay.
Jay takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Griggs cracks Jay with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Jay tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Griggs pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Jay is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
