Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dom Cleaner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DJ Spoons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dom Cleaner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, DJ Spoons!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Andrew Berry and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spoons fails with a takedown attempt.
Jab by Cleaner.

Spoons gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Spoons wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Spoons looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Cleaner passes into half guard.

Spoons looking for submissions off his back.
Spoons tries to get to full guard but Cleaner has control of the leg.
Spoons is staying active underneath Cleaner, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Cleaner is working for a submission of some sort.
Cleaner is tying to control. Spoons wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Spoons trying to control from the bottom.
Spoons wants to improve his position but Cleaner is controlling well.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Spoons fails with an attempt to clinch.
Cleaner misses with a few strikes there.

Cleaner looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Spoons is not content to let Cleaner control the position.
Spoons is trying to maintain the position but Cleaner is very close to passing his half guard.

Spoons is pressing down on Cleaner's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Cleaner is breathing heavily.

Spoons looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Cleaner trying to control but Spoons is working from the bottom.
Spoons trying to control the position.

Spoons is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Cleaner is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Spoons isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Cleaner stacks Spoons on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Cleaner!
Cleaner tries to move into full mount but can't pass Spoons's legs.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Cleaner working away.
Spoons sneaks back into half guard.
Spoons gets full guard.
Spoons is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Spoons wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cleaner keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Spoons not doing much here.

Spoons is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Spoons is working for a kimura but Cleaner is defending it quite comfortably.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Spoons scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Spoons lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Spoons works his way into full mount!

Spoons working for a submission but Cleaner is keeping him at bay.
Cleaner is wriggling around trying to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but DJ Spoons will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Cleaner gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Spoons counters with a one-two to the body.
Cleaner throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Spoons's waist but Spoons gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cleaner off to one side.

Cleaner drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Spoons is trying to control the position but Cleaner postures up.
Spoons is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Cleaner tries to kick Spoons off but Spoons keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Cleaner is positioning himself well to prevent Spoons advancing to mount.

Spoons is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cleaner is just riding it out for now. Spoons eventually gives up the hold.
Cleaner trying to hold on to Spoons's head to control him but Spoons postures up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cleaner won't allow Spoons to pass to mount.
Cleaner is looking to control Spoons's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cleaner avoid being mounted?
Spoons wants to advance to full mount but Cleaner doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Cleaner keeping moving, preventing Spoons from controlling successfully.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Spoons fails with the takedown

and Cleaner counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Spoons wants to hit a switch here but Cleaner passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Spoons there!

Spoons manages to regain half guard. Good work.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Cleaner connects with a nice short shot to Spoons's temple.
Spoons is looking to control Cleaner's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Spoons avoid being mounted?

Spoons looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Cleaner slips a nice elbow through Spoons's hands, connecting with Spoons's forehead.

Cleaner prevents Spoons from improving his position.

Cleaner is working for a guillotine from mount but Spoons frees his head quite easily.
Spoons is trying desperately to improve position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cleaner in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Cleaner looking to finish Spoons with some ground and pound. This is bad for Spoons!

Spoons fails with the takedown

and Cleaner counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Cleaner.
Cleaner lands a couple of digs.
Spoons is trying to control the position but Cleaner postures up.

Spoons looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Dom Cleaner overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Spoons is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dom Cleaner dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!


Spoons slips a jab and a cross from Cleaner.
Spoons shoots in but Cleaner avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Cleaner tries to clinch up.
Spoons has a takedown stuffed.
Spoons chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Cleaner can pounce on him.
Spoons throws a nice looking combination but Cleaner bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Spoons misses with a takedown attempt - Cleaner sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Dom Cleaner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of DJ Spoons.
Spoons takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cleaner closes the distance and clinches.

Spoons has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Cleaner clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Cleaner is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Spoons is looking for a rear naked choke here but Cleaner reverses the position brilliantly into Spoons's guard!
Cleaner trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Spoons looking for a sweep. Not yet Spoons, not yet.

Spoons is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Spoons is looking for a triangle but Cleaner pushes his legs off easily.
Cleaner stands up over Spoons, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Cleaner stays in close to Spoons's body and controls the position.
Cleaner trying to control the position from guard on top but Spoons is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Spoons looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Cleaner puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Cleaner decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Spoons changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cleaner looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Cleaner manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Spoons content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Cleaner wants to get back to full guard.
Spoons is looking to take a break and control but Cleaner is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Spoons in particular looking to stall.
Cleaner tries to get to full guard but Spoons has control of the leg.
Spoons is nestled in close to Cleaner, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Spoons is trying to control the action in half guard but Cleaner is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Spoons winds up and cracks Cleaner with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Spoons passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Cleaner!

Spoons is persistently looking for the submission but Cleaner is defending it well.
Cleaner takes a big shot to the side of the head.
Cleaner tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Cleaner is squirming around, avoiding Spoons's attempts to control the action.
Spoons with a couple of short strikes.
Spoons can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Cleaner is looking to escape.

Cleaner wants to control but Spoons is having none of it.
Cleaner has given up his back here.

Spoons is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
Cleaner looking very determined here, making life difficult for Spoons.

Spoons has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Cleaner has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Cleaner breaks Spoons's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cleaner is looking to stand up but Spoons won't let him.
Spoons keeping moving, preventing Cleaner from controlling successfully.
Cleaner is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Cleaner is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

And that's the end of the fight!
DJ Spoons comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Spoons has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
