Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Shinnie (ranked 1105 p4p, 1092 weight class) and Aaron Smith (ranked 52 p4p, 51 weight class). Smith is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Lonely Train by Black Stone Cherry. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 25 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kevin Shinnie! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 15 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Aaron Smith! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Paul Tew and Phil Schofield.

Smith rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Shinnie counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Shinnie takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Shinnie moves out of range of the strikes. Smith dodges the punch combination from Shinnie.
Smith lands a head shot. Smith uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Shinnie. Smith tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Shinnie manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Shinnie lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Shinnie misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Smith.

Smith closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Shinnie is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Smith is controlling him well. Smith is looking to take a break and control but Shinnie is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shinnie pushes Smith away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Smith gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Shinnie managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Smith.
Shinnie is pushing Smith's head away, looking to escape. Smith manages to hold on to the position though. Smith is looking to take a break and control but Shinnie is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Shinnie pushes Smith away and creates a bit of space to escape. Smith scores with punches from side control. Smith passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Shinnie! Smith wants to finish this one by submission but Shinnie is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Smith. Shinnie wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Smith.
You get the feeling that Shinnie really doesn't like being in this position too much.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smith working away from the top, dropping strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shinnie wants to get back to his feet.
Smith lands a couple of good shots and Shinnie has given up his back, trying to escape the position! Shinnie wants to get back to his feet. Smith struggling to land strikes to the head as Shinnie covers up. Shinnie wants to get back to his feet. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Smith has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Shinnie.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith throwing wild punches that miss their target. Shinnie staying busy and making it hard for Smith to control. Smith connects with a big shot to the side of Shinnie's head.
Shinnie is rocked! Smith lands a good shot there. Shinnie covers up! Smith smells blood and goes for the finish - the referee warns Shinnie to improve his position but he's not intelligently defending himself and the referee has no choice but to step in and end the fight! Smith jumps to his feet and celebrates the important win with his cornermen!

Our winner, Aaron Smith, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
