Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hatebreed Rebel! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eddie Miles! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Eddie Farnsworth and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Miles throws out a loose jab but Rebel uses good head movement to avoid it. Miles tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rebel was well out of range. Poor timing from Miles. Miles throws a left and a right that both miss
and Rebel counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Rebel. Miles has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Rebel is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. Miles escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Miles misses with a hook
and Rebel counters with a nice double leg into side control. Miles won't be happy with that. This has been an exciting period of action! Miles wants to control but Rebel postures up. Miles might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Rebel haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Miles is not content to let Rebel control the position. Rebel tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rebel working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Miles is trying to control Rebel's posture but Rebel avoids it. Rebel sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Miles is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Rebel has hold of Miles's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Miles tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Rebel cranks the arm and Miles screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Miles, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Hatebreed Rebel! Hatebreed Rebel retains his light heavyweight title!
